WAVEFRAME SOUND COLLECTION
The Legendary 80's WaveFrame Audioframe Sampler in a Compact Library
Back in the 80's the WaveFrame Audioframe was the second generation of mega samplers, in line with the NED Synclavier and Fairlight CMI. A complete 48-voice system would sell for over $100,000, and at the time the feature set was worth it! The Audioframe was used by renowned artists like Peter Gabriel and Stevie Wonder and by leading sound designers and foley artists.
The UVI WaveFrame Sound Collection isn't a massive library dredged with tens of gigabytes of super high resolution wave files - conversely, it's a lean and mean library expertly crafted after the original, weighing in at just over 350 MB.
As you can hear in the demos, size isn't a factor for this library. The collection contains a multitude of very useful and organic sounds such as keyboards, guitars, basses, solo strings, string sections, upper brass, lower brass, brass sections, woodwinds, synths, pacific rim, percussion, drums, effects and test tones.
WaveFrame Sound Collection brings you an excellent library of bread and butter sounds that preserve the character and history of this milestone in music tech history.

Six Powerful Vintage Machines Revisited
Vintage Legends comes packed with over 800 presets expertly crafted by UVI sound design team, giving you a huge library of unique sounds and textures.
Timeless sounds. Infinitely customizable. Compatible with everything.
Between 1979 and 1984, Yamaha designed and built some of the most unique and distinct sounding analog synthesizers in the world - the most famous of which being the well-regarded CS-80. At UVI we actually prefer the sound of the lesser-known siblings of the family, we're speaking of 3 marvelous models: the CS-70M, CS-40M, and CS-20M.
UVI CS-M features a dual-layer architecture and instant preset/layer switching, making it an extraordinarily responsive instrument capable of a wide range of sounds. Layers include all possible base waveforms and noises as well as expertly programmed presets, all made on the original machines. The authentic sound and natural texture of these machines were preserved and translated clearly in CS-M. Everything was sampled, down to the unique Unison and Ensemble sounds from the massive CS-70M.
The wonderful vintage aesthetic of this synthesizer can be taken even further with help from the UVI Engine. CS-M comes packed with a wealth of features to help you enrich and customize your sounds including double arpeggios, a step sequencer, LFOs and precision modeled FX - allowing you to freely tread in territory the old hardware couldn't dream of.
From thick and gritty textures to pulsing warm tones and everywhere in-between, UVI CS-M is a grand ode to one of our most beloved inspirations.
Considered by some to be the best analog synthesizer ever designed, the Synthex comes to us from the Italian manufacturer Elka. The Synthex was made famous by Jean Michel Jarre on his 'Rendez vous' EP which features a ripping Lazer Harp sound. Due to the oscillator design and lush filters this synth packs a distinctly thick and raw sound. The Synthex has become increasingly rare with time and finding working units can be a tedious and expensive task. UVI Synthox now brings you the best of this instrument in the form of a convenient and extraordinary sounding soft synth.
UVI Synthox features a dual-layer architecture and instant preset/layer switching making it an extraordinarily responsive and capable instrument. Layers include all possible base waveforms and noises from the hardware as well as expertly programmed presets. We've gone to great lengths to ensure the authentic sound and natural texture of these machines was preserved and translated clearly in our instruments. We sampled everything, including the raw waveforms with different configurations of the Chorus section.
Take this classic to the next level with the UVI Engine, Synthox comes packed with a wealth of features to enrich and further customize your sounds, including double arpeggios, a step sequencer,
LFOs and precision modeled FX - allowing you to explore territory the old hardware couldn't dream of.
From thick and sizzling textures to funky analog tones and everywhere in-between, UVI Synthox has a distinct and addictive sound.
The Rhodes Chroma is a unique specimen, easily identified by its vibrant looks and sound. One of the first microprocessor-based analog synths, Chroma was the last keyboard designed by ARP, a pioneering synthesizer house of the 70's, before Rhodes later began selling it in early eighties. The sound of Chroma is very, very good - rich and immediate.
UVI Kroma comes loaded with dozens of presets programmed on a fully restored unit including Arpeggios, Bass, Bells, Brass, FX, Leads, Pads, Strings, Sweeps. Even the basic waveforms of the unit were sampled to allow design of new patches. Take complete control of this veritable classic with a built in arpegiator, step sequencer, LFOs and precision modeled FX.
From elegant and brassy to analog atmosphere and everywhere in-between, UVI Kroma brings back a forgotten classic with an arsenal of sound sculpting tools exclusive to the UVI Engine.
Back in 1985 Japanese super-synth designer Yamaha set out to fashion their biggest and baddest FM synth ever. And they succeeded. The DX1 was constructed in an extremely limited run of 100 units, utilizing only top-of-the-line components. The resulting sound these machines made was unlike anything else, almost more organic than digital.
UVI sound designers spent a great deal of time exploring all the sonic fields this machine could traverse, and have packed it with presets ranging from utility to the most creative textures and ambiences. Even more, the base waveforms of the unit were carefully captured allowing you to create your own patches from scratch.
In addition to an exhaustive sample set, UVI FMX1 includes arpeggios, a step sequencer, LFOs and precision modeled FX to help sculpt your sounds to fit the mix perfectly; we even included a true FM synthesis module to further FMize your presets. All of this packed with a wealth of features exclusive to the UVI Engine.
Pure FM sounds, slamming bass tones and rich atmospheres await - UVI FMX1 puts the legacy of a fantastic Eighties super-synth squarely within reach.
The first keyboard to deliver sampled waveforms via oscillator, the K250 was a joint effort carried out with legendary musician Stevie Wonder, the founder of ARP - Alan Pearlman, and prolific synthesizer artisan Bob Moog among others. Able to produce brilliant acoustic sounds without the use of disk drives, the K250 was the world's first ROMpler and boasted an impressive 24 voices of polyphony. A beastly 88 weighted-keyboard instrument, the K250 was designed with performance in mind and later joined by the K1000 - a 76-key version which came with additional sounds but was relatively difficult to program due to restrictive front-panel controls.
In making the U1250 we decided to tackle both the K250 and the K1000, programming a wide range of sounds including Acoustic and Electric Pianos, Bells, Mallets, Drums, Percussion, Guitar, Bass,
Pads, Wind, Brass and other Orchestral instruments, many of the patches evoking classic Eighties nostalgia. These sounds were then tediously multi-sampled to produce the rich library of the
These classic sounds from the late 80's and early 90's are given new life and playability with the UVI Engine. We've included a number of controls that offer easy customization and enhanced sculpting not available in hardware.
These features combined offer a deep and unparalleled experience.
EXCLUSIVE BONUS OF VINTAGE LEGENDS. NOT AVAILABLE AS INDIVIDUAL PRODUCT.
The DK Synergy is easily one of the most odd vintage synthesizers. Sporting 32 oscillators of sine or triangle wave, the Synergy was primarily known for additive synthesis but is capable of some FM synthesis as well. Synergy was one of the first synthesizers with a memory cartridge, allowing some expansion to the 24 internal patches but required an external device to write them.
The DK Synergy is a nightmare to program - but the sounds are fantastic, used by electronic virtuosos like Wendy Carlos. So we were determined to create a full library of patches from this
keyboard and bring you a dose of this classic oddball. In addition to the included patches you can design your own from basic waveforms offered by the hardware. The UVI Engine allows for further
customization of Energy - giving you a built-in arpegiator, step sequencer, LFO and precision modeled FX.
UVI Energy has a one-of-a-kind sound and is an exclusive instrument only available in the Vintage Legends collection.

In 1985 the world was introduced to the JX-10, a 12-voice, 24-oscillator analog synthesizer par excellence and the last true analog synth of its lineage. Following in the footsteps of the JX-8P and JX-3P, the Super JX was fashioned with a sparse aesthetic. A lack of knobs made the system a bit of a chore to program but an external controller (the PG800) could be attached, cheerfully reuniting synthesists with the immediacy and rapid programming speed of the ever-popular Jupiter and Juno lines. The JX-10 is known for an immense and capable analog sound, even some digital textures; it's simply a magnificent synth. Programming capabilities were equally rich with independent control of 2 DCOs per voice, 2 EGs, 2 VCFs, onboard chorus and even a sequencer (albeit a limited one).
UVX-10P was designed to deliver on all of the strengths of the JX series with none of the weaknesses. We started with a pristine JX-10, MKS-70, and JX-8P and set off, tirelessly programming and sampling these beauties in high-resolution through a world-class signal chain. As with the UVX-3P we made every sample twice, with and without the built-in chorus, providing an authentic and versatile foundation. This sonic backbone paired with the UVI Engine results in a lush and extravagant analog sound; faithful to the hardware with a modern studio bite. UVX-10P delivers a fully-featured and fully-programmable interface sporting ADSR control of our high-quality amp and multimode filter designs, multiple effects, LFO and step modulator, a tediously crafted library of 150+ patches and even original wave samples for you to create your own programs with.
A perfect complement to UVX-3P, UVX-10P delivers a tremendous analog sound at an outstanding price. Add a piece of vintage synth history to your collection today!
A Superb Instrument at an Outstanding Price
Inspired by the Roland JX-3P
⬇ Free Demo Version
In 1983, Roland introduced one of the first affordable analog synths, the JX-3P. The JX-3P signaled a shift away from control dense synths like the JUNO and JUPITER series for a less
intimidating, more entry-level aesthetic aimed at players who wanted the Roland sound without being distracted by a slew of controls.
That said the JX-3P was in no way technically inferior, offering many of the same components as its more expensive siblings‚ it even boasted dual DCO's per-voice compared to a single in the JUNO series making it somewhat of a sleeper powerhouse.
Not as pervasive as the JUNO series, the JX-3P was still a very capable and expressive instrument used by many well known pop acts such as Stevie Nicks, Vince Clark and The Cure as well as electronica pioneers Orbital and The Future Sound of London.
UVX-3P was developed with the same care and thoroughness as our other Vintage series instruments. A JX-3P was fully restored to factory spec, programmed by members of our sound design team and deeply multi-sampled, capturing samples both dry and with the built-in analog chorus enabled. Great care was taken to capture a wide range of the sonic capabilities of this synth, giving you 160+ presets in all.
Explore the included sounds or design your own patches from scratch through an immaculately prepared UI. Take your sound design even further with the wide range of effects available in the industry leading UVI Engine.
Adding the UVX-3P to your music arsenal is a no-brainer!

SPIRIT OF GONGS
A Beautiful Collection of the Most Musical Gongs
Gongs are mainly found in East and Southeast Asia. They are typically made of a flat metal plate, are various shapes and are struck with a mallet. As gongs are created in many sizes, we've
focused on the most musical - middle to small-sized (5-26 inches).
We aimed for the best quality possible, recording the entire library at 24 bit / 96 kHz utilizing the best available ADCs and we believe the natural essence of these rich percussive instruments has been faithfully preserved as a result.
A Meticulous Recording Process for Intuitive Tools and Faithful Sounds
Depending on the particular gong, we were able to record multiple velocity layers. In addition, we assessed the perceptual tonality of each sample allowing them to be played on the keyboard
intuitively and in key. The result is a more than just a library of gong sounds; its versatile instrument capable of creating lengthy metallic textures, large metallic hits and magnificent
musical bell and chime tones.
The library has been sorted by country of origin, and includes 80 gongs from Burma, Cambodia, China, Indochina, Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam. Photos and physical specifications accompany the majority of presets.
A Massive Library of Samples from 11 Renowned String Synths
Back in the 70's, leading keyboard designers around the world attempted to reproduce orchestral string sounds through analog synthesis. The results were far from their original intent but were in
no way failures. Used on countless cult records and engrained in our collective memory to this day, these 'String Machines' bore an analog soul on their own.
We spent countless hours working to faithfully capture these analog souls and present them in an accessible, expressive, fully editable digital tool. So was born String Machines; a hybrid instrument, forged with the analog imprint of the 11 most musical string synthesizers ever built. Thousands of samples, painstaking recorded with the very best analog and digital gear available, combined with our deep knowledge of analog modeling and advanced signal processing; we've applied everything we've learned in order to bring you this comprehensive instrument at an unbelievable price.

With Retro Organs we set out to accurately capture the giant sound of the famous tone wheel organs and rotary speaker cabinets and package them in an instrument that facilitates an easy and intuitive use.
The Most Famous and Sought After Organs
Vintage organs were restored to their original 1940's spec and delivered to us at Guillaume Tell's world-famous studio. We then went about the tedious process of accurately recording each note
until the natural end of it's release. We did this using the original speakers, an original mint rotating speaker cabinet, vibrato, percussion, through D.I. boxes and through many vintage guitar
amps including a Marshall JTM 45, JCM 800, Plexi, Fender Bassman, Twin Reverb, Matchless Chieftain, Soldano Hot Rod and Vox AC 30. This tremendous sample set provides you a huge variety of sound
options all with the original qualities faithfully preserved.
We utilized top grade Neumann and Sennheiser microphones and the well regarded preamps of the SSL 9000 along with a number of choice processors to ensure a fantastic sound.
As a finishing touch, pedal sounds are included to complete the feel of realism.
An Award-Winning Library of High Quality Contemporary Instruments
PlugSound Pro delivers over 8 GB of instruments, loops and phrases. PlugSound Pro includes all of the sounds from the original PlugSound Box with enhanced presets and an entirely new Classical section featuring a wide range of acoustic instruments.
PlugSound Pro includes:
Acoustic, Electric, Harpsichords, Clavinet, Church Organs, Mallets and more
Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Bass, Harp and Ethnic Instruments
DRUM AND PERCUSSION:

A complete and efficient GM set
A High Quality Recording Process
Working with a professional percussionist, we rented a commercial studio and filled it to the brim with every sort of drum, chime, bell and thing we could beat with a stick. We brought in Brawmer and Neumann microphones, Manley, Fearn and Neve preamps and compressors and very high-end ADCs in order to capture our sessions with the utmost sonic precision - then immediately got to work making what would be one of, if not the, most comprehensive percussion library ever.
We employed deep multi-sampling to fully capture the varied character and quality of these instruments across multiple playing styles and strikes, often recording extensive velocity samples, different hand positions, rolls, and flams with everything recorded in 24 bit / 96 kHz for pristine clarity and richness.
A Massive & Versatile Percussion Library

Hark back to the heyday of classic rock and one instrument stands above the rest, a 350lb behemoth that would forever change the way we think about making music. At the heart of this monster was an array of tape machines, one per note on the attached keyboard, each playing a uniquely recorded sound. With only 8 seconds of tape per key and a cumbersome frame this machine had its limitations but was nonetheless impressive for its time, boasting a multitimbral and truly polyphonic 'engine'. Instantly made famous by the Beatles hit 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and used by countless others including The Moody Blues, Rolling Stones, and prog rock legends Yes, this was the 'must-have' sound of the 60's. While its use fell out of fashion the implications it made have become fundamental to modern music production.
A Versatile Collection of Instruments, Kits, Loops and Tools dedicated to Jazz
First, lets begin with the instruments. All instruments in Jazzistic were professionally multi-sampled in a commercial studio with fantastic jazz instrumentalists : Jean Christophe Calvet (drums), Pierre Yves Lamy (guitars) and Olivier Gatto (double bass). NORMAL PLAYING TECHNIQUES
Sustain and None
A normal piano sound. The strings are struck by hammers, triggered by the notes played on the keyboard. Use of the una corda and forte pedals is possible. There is no object in or on the strings modifying the sound.
The none preparation setting does not refer to there being no object or preparation modifying the sound of the string, but rather to the lack of sound produced by playing this key - a form of preparation that is impossible without breaking the hammer.
This setting can be very useful in preventing the sounding of misplayed notes, or for playing Gyorgy Ligeti’s Etude: Touches bloquées (by cheating, a little...)
EXPANDED PLAYING TECHNIQUES
Striking the Strings
◆ Mallets : The strings are struck with a vibraphone mallet. The resulting sound is similar to a normal key strike, but is slightly softer due differences between the mallet and the normal hammer action.
◆ Wooden Stick : The strings are struck directly using wooden sticks. The attack is harder and shorter. The timbre is similar to that of a dulcimer, and can be activated by pressure on the forte pedal.
◆ Stick Rebound : This setting features the same technique and resulting timbre as the Wooden Stick setting, but allows the stick to bounce on the string after the initial strike.
◆ Muted Stick Rebound : This setting features the same technique as Stick Rebound, but uses the stick on muted strings (see mutes).
◆ Plucking or Strumming the Strings with the Fingers
◆ Pizz. : The strings are plucked with a plectrum, one string only per note. This results in a sound resembling that of a guitar. It is a widely used effect, for example by Georg Crumb in Makrokosmos, or by Gerard Pesson in Rescousse.
◆ Scratch A fast scraping action by the nail along the string. When used on the bass strings, this causes a burst of harmonics. One can hear this technique, in combination with numerous other piano string effects, in Clepsydre by Horacio Radulescu (for 16 sound icons, or pianos installed vertically and played exclusively on the strings).
◆ Bow : Rosin horsehair (a single strand of a violin bow) causing the two or three strings that comprise a single pitch to vibrate. The resulting sound is continuous. Changes in the direction of the bow are always audible and give transient color to the timbre. This effect is sometimes made with fishing line rosin.
◆ Ebow : A small device normally used on electric guitars, causing the strings of the piano to vibrate through a magnetic field. This produces a continuous sound with a masked attack, resulting in a delicate and subtle timbre.
Other String Playing Techniques
◆ Harmonics : The default harmonic is the octave, activated by finger pressure in the middle of the string. The key is then played normally from the keyboard. It is also possible to transpose this harmonic, thereby simulating any harmonic of the string. A specific digital chord can be played by double clicking on the detune button. This technique is greatly used in solo music, as in Crumb’s work, for example, and may even found in a transcript of Johann Sebastian Bach’s
For the following preparations, the string is normally struck by the hammer. Objects can be placed on the strings, altering the manner in which they sound. The ones placed on the strings in this manner would normally affect several notes in succession on a real piano, which is not mandatory in IRCAM Prepared Piano.
Other objects may be inserted between the strings. From the treble keys down to medium bass (F1), there are three strings per note. In this range it is possible to insert one object between strings 1 & 2, and another in the strings 2 & 3.
Similarly, in IRCAM Prepared Piano, you can continue to add several more objects or playing techniques from those available when there are only two strings (F # 0 - E1) or one (as for F0). When the una corda pedal is pressed, only the preparations on strings 2 and 3 are activated, meaning that the pedal is functioning in line with organ techniques.
Objects Placed on the Strings
◆ Paper : Sheet of writing paper, rolled up and placed on the strings. Its design and the resulting tone echo the bassoon of some pianofortes.
◆ Aluminium : Aluminium foil placed flat on the strings. This gives a fairly long and characteristically metallic vibration. It is similar to preparations that consist of placing metal chains on the strings, as in the first work, Primeval Sounds, in Georg Crumb’s Makrokosmos I.
◆ iPhone : An iPhone resting flat on the strings. This gives a slightly metallic damping effect, as well as an occasional bouncing of the iPhone when the strings are struck. This is due to the iPhone not being tethered to the piano strings.
◆ Mutes : The string is dampened with a finger, close to the bridge. This category of dampened sounds includes preparations inserted between the strings, using fabric, felt [Felt Temperament Strip], or window seal, as well as variations in angle that influence the overall time effect of the damping. Studies by Michael Levinas exploit this technique.
Objects Inserted Between the Strings
◆ Rubber : Large pencil erasers are used for this preparation, producing a sound similar to that of a deep bass gong. In the first movement of John Cage’s Amores, three notes are muted with rubber giving a «touches bloquées» effect in contrast to other resonant preparations.
◆ Half Spring-type Clothespin : The half-spring pegs found here represent preparations made from wood. The hardness of the wood used in the pegs results in the production of gong-like sonorities. To simulate preparations using softer wood (which give a duller, dampened sound), half spring pegs can be combined with muted or rubber preparations. Wooden preparations sometimes touch the soundboard, producing a short, hard attack when the string is struck. It is possible to achieve this effect by ticking «add soundboard.»
◆ Screw / Bolt [tapered screw / bolt screw] : The screw, or bolt, is the most common preparation. There are screws of varying lengths and thicknesses, as well as screws with large heads, small heads, tapered heads or un-tapered heads. All of these factors affect the sonic characteristics when applied as a preparation to a piano string.
The preparation chosen uses a wide range of materials to create a variety of timbres from one note to another. The sounds are generally rich and resonant; they remain within the gong family, featuring a small vibration when the note is played forte.
All of Cage’s works use at least one screw. Prelude for Meditation contains only four notes, surrounded by numerous silences. Each note in the piece is prepared with bolts in addition to the normal sound of the piano, making it possible to hear the preparations clearly. By contrast, in Daughters of the Lonesome Island thirty-nine keys are prepared, almost all of them with screws, resulting in an abundance of timbres which remind the listener of a gamelan ensemble.
◆ Screw / Bolt + Loose Nut (buzz) : The same preparation described above, but with a loose nut around the screw which bounces when the note is played, creating a «buzz». An example of this preparation can be found in the first movement of John Cage’s Amores, where two notes prepared using screws must also be topped with nuts. This work also serves as a concise overview of the preparations Cage employed using mixed materials.
◆ Coins : A coin is inserted between the strings (above 1 and 3 and below 2), greatly enriching the sound. The result resembles a rich yet soft gong, sometimes featuring a very slight vibration. The sound is generally more rounded than when the strings are prepared with screws. The low notes of John Cage’s A Room are a fine example of the use of coins, combined with screws used on other notes.
◆ Glass Slide : A stemless glass is held on the strings, maintaining constant pressure, and slid lengthwise along them. The glissando is
ascending or descending, depending on whether the slide is moving towards or away from the dampers.
◆ Bar Hits : A percussive impact on the bars of the piano’s cast-iron plate, above the soundboard. Three playing techniques are used: the hands, soft drumsticks and hard drumsticks. These samples are played on the lowest bass notes beyond A-1. In Caravan, from Jacky Terrasson’s album Mirror, there is an improvisation using the hands inside the piano frame (video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxTi9lJSHyY). The phrase featured at 2:35 would be completely applicable within the IRCAM Prepared Piano software
◆ Extra Length : A plectrum slide along the part of the strings located between the bridge and the tuning pins. Since this is an unusual two-handed polyphonic technique, two potentiometers are used to produce this effect.

A New Breed
In the late 80's and early 90's the synthesizer landscape began to change. A new breed of keyboards began appearing in shops, records and on stage; matte black behemoths eschewing the familiar knob arrays for uniform clusters of discrete buttons and glowing green LCD screens. They signaled more than a shift in interaction with our musical counterparts‚ they ushered in the era of the digital synth.
To those willing to forgo the immediacy and ease-of-editing of the analog synth world these keyboards offered amazing features for the time; massive polyphony, extensive on-board sequencers and pattern memory, removable storage and digital effects. In addition to the immediate benefits of digital processing some of these keyboards also dawned innovative hybrid synthesis techniques, combining sample playback with classic methods allowing synthesists and musicians the opportunity to explore new sonic territory.
4 Classics, Massive Patch Library
The possibilities with a few of these classics was more than we could bear and became the inspiration for our new project, Digital Synsations. We took 4 classic keyboards from the era and set our sound designers loose, tasking them to return with boundary-pushing sounds‚ and they did. Digital Synsations includes over 500 patches expertly programmed on a fully restored Yamaha SY77, Korg M1, Roland D50 and Ensoniq VFX‚ used by many of the greats including Depeche Mode, The Cure, Pet Shop Boys, Vangelis, Brian Eno, Toto, 808 State, Jean Michael Jarre and more.
Pristine Sound, Deeply Editable
We deeply multi-sampled these custom patches using top-shelf equipment and edited them to perfection before sending them off for professional mastering. These sonics became the foundation for our new hybrid instrument and combined with the UVI Engine give you the true character of these classic synths with all of the peculiarities and programming by products intact. Not only that but you get them in an extremely easy to use and fast to edit environment complete with all the features you expect from a modern virtual instrument.
If you're looking for a new take on the 90's sound or just some new classic synth inspiration then look no further.

The Ultimate Drum Machine Retrospective
The first drum machines were manufactured in the 60's, designed to imitate the sounds of drums and percussion instruments. These drum machines utilized analog synthesis and typically offered few options for customizing their sound. In the 80's we began to see drum machines use low resolution digital samples - these quickly became popular and were used pervasively throughout pop music and the growing hip-hop movement. In the 90's, with the continuing development of technology, we saw great improvement in sound quality - where machines became much more capable but conversely, as their specifications improved, they began to lose some of the character that made their predecessors so great.
